The water used in “TEMENIA” soft drinks is collected from the eponymous spring in Temenia of Chania in Crete. The spring water has been characterized as therapeutic, as it contains fewer dissolved salts (low-mineral water). These waters have low ion concentrations and are suitable for low-sodium diets (e.g., in cases of hypertension). They also contain a very small amount of zinc, which is considered therapeutic.
In 2020, the spring was officially recognized as therapeutic. These waters are used for balneotherapy and drinking therapy, aiding in digestive system issues and preventing kidney diseases, bile duct disorders, and certain types of cancer.
